The curvy and narrow road brought us to the mountain of heavenly scenery – Tara National Park. It is situated in Western Serbia, circumscribed by one of the deepest canyons of Europe – the river Drina canyon. Tara NP is home to the unique and one of the most diverse flora and fauna in Europe. The national park was founded in 1981, and it includes Tara and Zvijezda mountains, the average altitude is between 1000 m and 2000 m, so it is hikers paradise with currently more than 30 walking trails. We parked in little village Mitrovac, from there we ride our scooter to explore the national park. On the first day, we hiked to the most popular viewpoint Banjska Stena, elevated at 1,065m above sea level, it offers an unforgettable view of the artificial lake Perućac and the Drina canyon. The next day we drove to Zaovine lake, which is a popular spot for swimmers and beach lovers, but it was already cold for us, so we just hiked around the lake. The only option for good food in Mitrovac is restaurant Kačara, where we took our breakfast (Omelette with cheese or ham – 300 RSD, Hot chocolate – 150 RSD, Bread – 50 RSD) and dinner (Pork medallions – 800 RSD, Shopska salad – 280 RSD, Cherry cake – 180 RSD).
