We have arrived in the late afternoon at Slovenský Ráj National Park. It is one of the nine national parks in Slovakia, situated in East Slovakia. The National Park protects the area of the Slovenský Ráj mountain range, which is located in the north of the Slovenské Rudohorie Mountains. The National Park covers an area of 197,63 km2. The Slovenský Ráj features lively forests, wide meadows and plateaus, chasms, canyons, gorges, garrulous waterfalls, and 350 caves. Even if it might look so, most walking trails are not that challenging, the elevation is not particularly high, but the walk still feels like an adventure. Crossing ravines is like an obstacle course full of wooden or metal ladders, bridges, creepers, and chains. It’s a highly addictive attraction, which we couldn’t miss. We took a hike to Klastorisko – 10,6 km, 4 hours with breaks, elevation gain 365 m, elevation loss 369 m. We tried two local restaurants Rumanka and Ranč, we do recommend the second one (Garlic soup 2 EUR, American pork steak with fried potatoes 9,10 EUR, Pork steak with mushroom sauce and rice 10,10 EUR, Chicken steak with rice 7,40 EUR, Birell Beer 1,40 EUR / 0,5 l). Entrance fee to park 1,50 EUR + 0,20 Mountain rescue insurance, Parking 8 EUR.
