We made a short service stop in Ružomberok to visit the local information office. The city lies on the eastern foothills of the Veľká Fatra mountains, the north-western slopes of the Nízke Tatry Mountains. The fact that the city lies on the crossroads of an ancient trade route leading from the Central Slovakian mining towns to Poland and Silesia. The most important role in the history of the crafts in Ružomberok was played by paper manufacturing, a symbol of the city which is preserved until the present day. We took a short walk around the Andrej Hlinka Square with the Late-Gothic Roman-Catholic church of St. Andrew. Then we bought some bread and left for Nízké Tatry Mountains.
