HARDANGERVIDDA

After Gaustatoppen we drove to Hardangervidda National Park. It is the largest national park in Norway. This vast mountain plateau offers excellent hiking opportunities; unfortunately, we did not have so much time, so we took just a 5 km hike from Gvepseborg. We used the Krossobanen Cable Car to get there. It was built in 1928 and it was a gift from Norsk Hydro to the local community. We used both of its two cable cars, “Tyttebær” (cranberry) and “Blåbær” (blueberry), which brought us to an altitude of 886 meters. The view over Rjukan and Gaustatoppen from the upper Gvepseborg station was fantastic.
