Surrounded by the fierce Hajar Mountains, Ras Al Khaimah (or simply ‘RAK’) is the UAE’s northernmost emirate. We were around for some time doing our service of the truck. At the end of our stay, we finally made time to visit the town and take photos. We stopped next to the modest Mohammed Bin Salim Mosque, which dates to the late 19th century and was recently restored using the traditional building method of plaster layered over coral blocks and beach stones. We made a few other stops and had dinner (Thai Cafe – Chicken fried rice 45 AED, Pad Thai noodles 45 AED, Water 0,75 l / 20 AED) at the Al Qawasim Corniche promenade, overlooked by the pearly white Sheikh Zayed Mosque.
