HOIMA

On our way to Murchison Falls, we stopped overnight at Hoima, the city with the palace of King Omukama of Bunyoro. We found parking in the city center at Cultural Lodges (20 USD) and walked to the HB Hotel to swim (10000 UGX). We visited Hoima Market and then drove to the national park the next day.

Tourism and business ventures bring many young people to Hoima, a business town that has come up in Uganda’s oil boom. It is renowned for its manicured roads and buzzing social scene. Oil riches have brought development to the area far beyond what the rest of the country has experienced, and the
locals like to enjoy the lifestyle that comes with this wealth.
