Kazimierz Dolny, a picturesque town in the Vistula valley, its tradition as a summer resort, and an artists’ colony date back to the early 1900s. We have parked next to the river (parking 15 PLN) and walked to the main square, where we took lunch in Sarp Restaurant (Vegetable cream soup 12 PLN, Potato pancakes with blue cheese 25 PLN, Perla beer 0,5 l / 8 PLN). The town features the ruins of a Gothic castle, several houses built in the Mannerist style, the Goldsmithery Museum, and a synagogue built in 1677. Kazimierz is a town that to this day is not spoiled with hideous concrete projects. Even if you leave the old town, you will not end up in the place forgotten by the architects. You cannot say this about any other place in Poland. In the evening we tasted some regional Jewish specialties at Bajgiel Restaurant (Chicken soup 12 PLN, Lamb goulash with bagel 52 PLN, Kazimierske beer 0,5 l / 12 PLN). Btw “Bagel” is a bread product originating in the Jewish communities of Poland. It is traditionally shaped by hand into the form of a ring from yeasted wheat dough, roughly hand-sized, that is first boiled for a short time in water and then baked. The next day we took a hot-dog at Orlen (5 PLN) for a breakfast and later quick lunch at Stara Łaźnia Restaurant (Soljanka soup 14 PLN, Water 0,33 l / 5 PLN).
